Portman Building Society

Right up until Portman's merger with Nationwide Building Society in 2007, Burnham Office Interiors spent almost 20 years working closely with the Portman supplying them all their furniture through-out their entire branch network and all regional offices.

Our history with Portman started with the sale of a few desks and chairs into one or two of their branches. Soon after this started Portman decided to pilot a new branch scheme in Portsmouth (Commercial Road). We were asked to put a complete package together significantly upgrading their furniture from what they had previously been using.
Over many years we continued to supply all their branch furniture, constantly fine-tuning and refining the furniture package but always following the corporate brand.



Following a number of high profile mergers it was announced in 1999 that Portman were to replace their ageing Bournemouth based Head Quarters with a spectacular new building. Well before the public announcement, Burnham Office Interiors were working behind the scenes with project managers on a consultancy basis helping to plan and design the interior schemes from the executive floor and boardroom through the training suites and general offices to the restaurant and the sports and leisure club to be based below the new building.

Burnham Office Interiors introduced various manufacturers to the project managers who then put them through a selection process that included every member of staff trying 3 different chairs each and then voting on the final choice. Squirewood (now SQ2 Workspace) desking, Dauphin seating and Maine storage systems were then selected and used through-out the new building.

In 2001 Portman moved in to their new Head Quarters and Burnham Office Interiors continued until the Nationwide merger in 2007 to space plan, supply and install furniture taking the numbers from 600 to over 900

To this day we are in touch with Nationwide's property management team helping them where required.
